CIDAR Uganda Bike Report Phase 1

On 8th, 11th and 16th May 2019 (45 bikes), CIDAR Uganda distributed 60 bikes, 40 bikes and 45 bikes respectively on the above dates to the intended beneficiaries. Majority of the bikes (143) were distributed to children of school-going age) while only 2 bikes were given to the 2 Local Council Chairpersons largely to monitor the usage of the bikes by the beneficiaries among other reasons.

65% of the recipients were already in school while 35% of the beneficiaries had dropped out of schools due to various reasons, including the lack of transport means to access the distant education facilities in the area. Photo on the right: some of the students who received bikes

Wheels 4 Life “Holiday Initiative” Drive

Wheels 4 Life “Holiday Initiative” Drive

Happy Holiday Season 2018 and welcome to our Wheels 4 Life “Holiday Initiative” drive.

Our aim is to raise enough funding to purchase 200 bicycles before December 31st 2018.

These bikes will go to a project in the Lira region of Uganda, east Africa, run by our project leader Ogwal Moses of Union of Hope Foundation.

To date we have given over 500 bicycles to this region; providing more children with transportation, to and from school, enabling healthcare workers to visit more patients and providing the means for farmers to transport far greater loads to the market.

Please help us to reach our goal this holiday season and change lives through the gift of bikes.

No donation is too small.

Please consider employee matching if your company has such a program.

WHEELS4LIFE FAMILY UGANDA A REPORT ABOUT BENEFICIARY GROUPS – OCTOBER 2018

WHEELS4LIFE FAMILY UGANDA A REPORT ABOUT BENEFICIARY GROUPS – OCTOBER 2018

Introduction:

Uganda is one of the many countries benefiting from the support of wheels4life. Beneficiary groups/organizations formed a family under the name: Wheels4life family Uganda. This family is under the control of Mr. Muleke Jude the ambassador for wheels4life Uganda. For better supervision, Mr. Ogwal Moses oversees five groups in the Northern Part of Uganda to ensure the funds go to the right people.

Every year, wheels4life family Uganda holds a family meeting to share experiences, find solutions to different challenges faced as they help their communities, as well as evaluate the annual activities and also point to major issues to be considered in the subsequent year.

Report for Phase One (CBIRD)

Report for Phase One (CBIRD)

Introduction
At this time of the year CBIRD has again received funding to purchase 49 bikes. These bikes were handed out to School Teachers and school children (primary and secondary school children). These people (the beneficiaries) are found in rural isolated areas with no easy means of affording public transport. Their schools are located in distances of 12-14km. The gift of bike will make all the difference to them and help them to break out of the vicious cycle of CHRONIC POVERTY.

Whereas there are many other people in need of this bicycle support, we are happy that we on the road to helping them because Wheels4life has always been responsive to our call for help. before the year ends, we hope to receive another batch of bicycles to help more school teachers and councillors who help people infected and affected with HIV/AIDs in rural areas.

We thank very much Wheels4life for your support whenever we call on you. People in my local area are proud of Wheels4life because many have a better life in their households because of a bike they received, children have been able to go to school because of the bikes, health workers have improved their services – thanks to the bikes they received. We shall not cease to request for your support. Thank you very much

Pictures of some of our beneficiaries

These two boys are from the same family. One is in senior two and the other in senior one. They have been travelling 9km to and from school. This long distance was affecting their education performance. They had this to say:

“we are very proud to have this bike. The level we are it is very critical because it determines our future. we were worried how we would be moving to school when we join senior four where we have to be in class at 7am and leave school late in the evening. But this means of transport has made it for us. We are now seeing a brighter future. Thank you CBIRD, thank you Wheels4life.”

This is Teacher Ssenninde William. He is a secondary school teacher. His school is located 13km away from his home. Every day, this teacher travels 26km! This is his story: “I have been waking up at 4am and prepare myself for the journey to school. In the evening after classes, i was always thinking about this long journey back home. Everyday i come to school with a lot of fatigue! But this bike has made my work easy and enjoyable. I will use it not only for transport to school but also as a means to carry some of our family agricultural goods to the market. Our income in my house is going to improve. I thank you so much for think about me”.

At this school, it was joy among all the beneficiary students. it is one of the rural isolated schools. these beneficiary students travel distances of 7-11km to and from school everyday. they were very happy to receive a bicycle.

These were other students beneficiaries. They were very grateful to receive a bicycle. The evening when the bikes were given to them will always be fresh in their minds.

CBIRD is very grateful to Wheels4life and all Partners that contribute towards helping the needy people in Uganda. Our beneficiaries can now travel ten times farther, and many times quicker than on foot. We therefore request for more bicycle support to help our people in rural isolated areas.

We thank you wheels4lfe and all individual partners who have the needy people at! Thank you very much.

Yours
Jude Muleke
